»This animation explains how to transport grains using best practices for bag transportation. It deals with how to prepare the truck beds and the use of tarps to minimize postharvest losses during transportation of the grain.«

It is important to take precaution when transporting bags of seed or grain because sharp objects or sharp edges can tear your bags open resulting into loss of the produce.

Before beginning to load produce for transport, clean the truck to remove previous residues, repair holes on the floor or roof and load the bags uniformly but avoiding over loading.

After loading, cover the bags to avoid contamination by birds or rain but when covering, put curved strips made of bamboo or metal to avoid accumulation of water on the roof then cover the top and extend the cover from the top to also cover one third of the sides of the truck box and tie tightly.

During the transportation, make regular stops along the travel and check on the status of the cargo and if necessary, rearrange the load.
