Growing onion from seed requires careful attention. After the tiny seeds germinate, young seedlings have to be protected from the scorching sun and heavy downpours.

A seed bed allows you to easily water and protect your onion seedlings until they are strong enough to transplant to the field. Establishing a nursery enables you to take better care of your onion seedlings. Onion seedling need healthy loose soil. The seed bed will need to be raised in the rainy season so that onion roots will not rot. Well- aged manure or compost is added to the soil during planting of the onion seedlings.

Planting seeds
