As a farmer uses pesticides on his or her farm, he must careful as the pesticides may harm him or her or affect the efficience due to under or over application. Because pesticides enter body through skin, the farmers need to cover skin as much as possible and wear chemical resisting gloves, long sleeed overall, tall rain proof boots, water proof hut, face shield for some pesticides and chemical resistant aprone and respirator.

Pesticide handling

First, always wear chemical resisting gloves when getting chemicals from storage, check for any leaking containers and clean the leaks and ensure chemical containers are away from people when transporting them and one should wear perdonal protective equipments when mixing and loading the pesticides. Open container carefully on a flat surface, measure and rinse container 3 times and pour the rinsed water into spraying tank.
Equally, pour pesticide carefully out of container to avoid splashes and once container is empty, trippple rinse it right away and make sure all pesticide drops out of container to spray tank and wait for 30  seconds. Fill the container 0.25 with water, shake it for 30 seconds and pour into the tank and repeat more 2 times.
Put empty container and measuring containers in pesticide storage, check area and ensure there are no people oe animals before spraying. Make sure all equipments are in good working order and check the weather condition and stop spraying instantly when weather changes.
Furthermore, in green houses, get out and call for help incase you feel dizzy durig spraying and check for left over pesticide and clean trhe tank by adding water in the ratio of 10:1 ratio.
Finally, spray area just sprayed using dilluted left over.
