»Mulching Makes All The Difference! In our backyard gardens, just like in nature, bare and exposed soils are just no good. Walk through a forest or any natural greens cape and you‘ll won‘t see the naked dirt. Nature has designed seasonal systems and processes to eliminate exposed soils for protection and to keep the plant-soil interaction healthy and robust. Same with our gardens. You soil is your most precious resource for growing the best veggies and fruits. You and the soil have to work three times harder when an exposed top layer keeps drying out, is prone to weed colonization, and the microbial activity is lost to the depths.«

Apart from water irrigation method, mulching is also a potential method of retaining viable moisture content in the soil for the crops.
Mulch is a layer of material applied as protective barrier to top bare soil in form of plastic, fabric, straw and wood shavings. The material used depend on what is to be accomplishes however mulching improves on soil health and suppresses weeds from field.

Mulching methods

As compost is used as a blanket to top soil, mix fresh grasses with dry tree leaves and apply on seed bed while for wood chip mulches, it binds up nitrogen for some time. Use clean fine straw to mulch bed which later turn into organic to keep the soil cool with enough moisture content.
Similarly, for living mulches, they blanket soil and give secondary crops and they are obtained from cover crops while for Chop N Drop method of mulching, crops are harvested, chopped and returned as mulches to the garden.
Finally, pile mulches around plant 2 inches thick and water immediately.
