Dates are most commonly grown in North Africa and the Middle East and these can be grown organically without using synthetic chemicals.

Dates are most grown in semi arid and arid areas. Dates don’t produce fruits when planted until they reach their 4th year of growth and after this, the yield gradually increases year after year until the peak yield is reached.

Management practices

Sometimes fruits are bagged using nets to keep them out of reach of pests making it of no use to use pesticides in pest control.
The fertilization of the plants is asexual where the farmer has to get pollen pollen from the male trees and uses it to fertilize the female trees in order to have pollination successfully take place.
Date farming isn’t too much demanding and all that is needed is land to establish the plants and a source of irrigation water though the demand for labor especially during harvesting is a little higher.

Processing dates

After harvesting the dates, they are sent to a factory where the dates are sorted.
After sorting, the dates are then packaged for sell.
Dates can also on top of being eaten fresh as fruits be used in confectionary especially making chocolates.
