Onions are a very important spice used in cooking and is used almost in all households. During use of the onions, the dry scaly leaves are often removed and thrown into trash but these can be put to good use.
Fertilizer making
After removing the dry scaly leaves from the onions, collect them. The peelings are a source of nutrients like potassium, iron and zinc for the plants.
Put the onion peels in a container and pour water into the onion peals. Just put enough water to cover up the onion leaves.
Keep the mixture for 24 hours. With that, all the nutrients from the peels will move into the liquid.
Decant the mixture to remove the onion peals and have the liquid out. The liquid has significant amounts of calcium that the crops need especially at flowering.
To use the fertilizer, mix the onion solution with water at a ratio of 1:1 and spray to your crops.
