Being a dangerous component that is harmful to life, aflatoxins in the crops such as maize, ground nuts can be prevented using different technoogies. Being a harmful substance that conatimate crops, aflatoxin comes from fungus or mould that grow o nuts and the fungus affect nuts in th field and spread during growing season or in storge. Plant ground nuts o time for plants to mature and be harvested in before dry season begins as aflatoxin are favoured by dry season.

Aflatoxin management

First, plant at proper density,  harvest crop promptly and dry crops properly by turning them over in field for a few days and after, pluck seed pods and dry them further on tarpauline. Sort out the damaged nuts and store nuts in shell and clean dry bags away from pests and never allow to get wet again.
Finally, when shelled, sort nuts again and never to feed people or livestock on infected nuts.
