Being a notorious pest that affect the productio of crops due to its feeding characteristics, legume pod borer can be prevented using bio control measures. Stem borers being the primary insect pests in the field, push-pull system is a key element in developing integrated pest management program to control the borers. Stam borers lay eggs underside the leaves of maize and hatch in 4-8 days into larvea which eat leaves they hatched on.

Bio control

As larvea develop into pupa  in 2-4 weeks after hatching and into adult in 5-12 days, adults are active during at night and rest on leaves during the day. Adults are smaller moths with white-yellow smaller wings and for push pull methods of controlling moths, one should use natural enemies fo feed on pests forexample allowing parasitic wasps to attack stem borers.
Similarly, plant specific plants aound maize that repell moths and also plant maize first and then  desmodium i between the rows as thse poroduce chemiocals that repell mtohs.
Finally, plant elephant grass on the boundaries of field to attract or pull out moths out of maize.
