As availability of water allows continuous productio and growing of crops throughout the year watering should be done well for good yields. A farmer should water crops for a period depending on soil type in it grown and also plant plants in trenches for sand soil and on flat land for loam soils and because over watering and under watering affect crops, he should use a moisture metre to determine the amount of water in soil before watering.

Land management

First, check moisture levels at 6 inches under soil using moisture metre as soil requires atleast 60% and 80% most of moisture hence water for specific duration and check moisture levels. Increase water duration when soil moisture is below 50% after 1 day of watering and water frequently when weather is hot and less when it is cool.
Similarly, only water crops from below and not from top to prevent fungal diseases to the plants and also water according to type of plants your growing in garden as plant have different water needs.
