Crop management

As cauliflower crop grow well in all types of soils mainly sand – loam to clay, seedlings are raised in nursery beds and planted in field of size 1m wide and 3m in length which is prepared by mixing sand, soil and organic manure. Mix muriate with TSP well 8 days before sowing and later apply urea for proper growth of seedlings.

Similarly, when preparing land by deep cultivation of 4-5 times, sprinkle required fertilizer evenly on land on last tillage and mix with soil. For ready land, bed should be 15-20 cm high from ground and 1m wide. Seedlings of 5-6 leaves are planted in main field after 30-35 days of sowing at a spacing of 60*45 cm mainly in the afternoon and then apply fertilizers.

Fertilizer is applied in 3 instalments which are 10 days after planting, at 25 days and during head formation. Irrigate land immediately after fertilizer application and after 2-3 days well and then apply herbicides before transplanting followed by hand weeding and then at 42 days after transplanting.

Finally, tie leaves together over the head when it is about 2-3 inches in diameter to balance and protect plant from heat from sun and to maintain the white colour of the fruit as well. Apply fungicides and pesticides to control pests and diseases and harvest when mature and mainly during morning and afternoon.
