Animal skins are some of the animal products which are used as raw materials for the leather industries and and other industries and quality of final product is determined by mode of curing.

Skins are extracted from small animals such as goats, dears, sheep, donkey, kobs and hides are obtained from big animals. However during the processing, the skin is soaked and later salted or frozen by use of chemicals.

Skin handling

Once skin is rehydrated, remove fresh meat using blunt knife and after take it back to get grease out of skin for tanning chemicals to penetrate lighter. Use detergents and other chemicals as this with draws the grease out.

Additionally, the skin is then put in a solution for a few days and whole process takes a week. Get skin from solution where it was set for few days and perform moving on to next stage. After, take out the skin and put maintaining solution.

Similarly put softening oil layer, leave for a few days and then dry the skin. Put skin on board for drying and shaping and once dried, remove all the rough stuff from skin. Take off from board and shape it using pair of scissors.

Finally soften it with hands by rubbing it back and forward and brush up the skin as the last step.
