Cassava peels are potential animal feed resources, to both ruminants and monogastric animals with great demand and a great source of income. Furthermore during preparation dry peels off bare ground and store well after drying to avoid contamination. Additionally, ensure to use cassava that is free from foreign materials as well as keeping all machines and processing areas clean to avoid fungal infection and ensure quality.

Process to follow

Start by sorting and grating peels 3 time to facilitate de watering and drying. Thereafter, pack grated peels in plastic or woven bags, fold bags half way and stack them on one another for pressing to remove water. Additionally insert high pressure on bags over night to extract water and allow fermentation. After fermentation dry and grate dry peel cake to produce dry mash. This is then followed by grate, dry peel cake and sieve to get a fine smash. Drying should be done for 6-8 hours off bare ground. Lastly pack dried mash, store for 4-6 months and flash dry every after an interval.
