Strawberry management
Being a crop grown in cold regions in open fields and poly houses, strawberry need well drained soils which is sandy-loam with a site that receive adequate sunlight to 8 hours a day. Consider availability of reliable water supply for irrigation purposes and incoporate orgainc atter into soil and choose certified disease free plants.
Similarly, plant strawberry depending on variety and location and space plants according to variety’s recommended spacing of 12-18 inches apart. Set plants in soil at same depth as they were previously grown. Provide water to plants regularly by irrigation and apply organic mulch around plants to suppress weeds and retain moisture.
Follow fertilizer appliation schedules on plants throughout season and manage crops for pest and disease and take appropriate measure to control them.
Finally, use integrated pest management techniques to minimise chemical use and harvest strawberries when they are fully ripe.
