Chicken brooding with with zero mortalities is the most profitable business. Before you get your chicks to the farm, be prepared first. Have the correct number of feeders, drinkers and material used to make the brooder.
Constructing brooders
Brooders should be at least 75cm and 1m from the ground, this way less heat will be used because most of the heat will be retained.
Spread the wood shavings on the floor, spread cotton on top of the wood shaving to avoid chicks getting direct contact with the wood shavings, and eating sawdust.
When brooding, use baby drinkers to avoid the chics getting wet when drinking water which causes pneumonia.
Feeding chicks
When giving water, mix water and vitamins first then put in the drinker. Bring the drinker in the brooder, take a liquid paraffin and spread on the drinker sides. Don‘t mix water vitamin and liquid paraffin.
Lighting bulb should be lower enough and give enough lights. Don‘t use too bright bulb to avoid spending more on power, use dull lights which makes the chicks happy.
Too much power brings blinding efforts to chicks.
