»Saget farming«
Saga farming is a good economic venture because it requires less inputs, the planting method does not require a large labour force and also the returns are within a short period of time.
In a span of one month, a farmer is able to plant, grow and harvest Saget. Inputs required for the Saget farming are also readily available. Chicken manure can easily be found in the local markets near farmers. Pests and diseases poses a major challenge to Saget farmers but they can be controlled if the proper measures like buying manure that is free of wood hursts are undertaken.
Planting
You need quality seeds to ensure maximum returns. Prepare the seed bed measuring one and half metre width and have a length of your required size.
Use chicken manure because it is in small particles and easy to spread. Mix manure with the soil properly, spread your seeds using leaves to cover them thinly with the soil. Irrigate the seeds early in the morning or late in the evening. The seeds germinate in four days and mature in a months time.
Pests and Disease
The biggest challenge in Saget farming is pests and diseases. They are affected by aphids, worms, caterpillars and fungal diseases like Downey mildew.
To identify pests infestation in your crops, you need to look at the crops for changes in colour, presence of pests or bites on the leaves. Weeding also help in ensuring healthy growth of the crops. The chicken manure should also be free of wood husk as they attracts pests during their decomposition.
Market
Like other farm produce, Saget earn you better money if the crops are of good quality. Proper care is therefore required for a guarantee of good returns.
Since the market equilibrium should always be maintained, farmers need not to worry about perishability of the crops because there are farmers who buy Saget in large quantity, process and freeze them to cater for their daily customers demand.
