Feed mixing
Because feed mixing calculations are based on quality, availabilityband prices of raw materials, a farmer should select only raw materials required for mixing and also use animaltype, feed phase and prepare sufficient feed. Always make fresh feed daily of feed that is used not more than 7 days and calculate based on expected feed intake requirement of raw materials.
Similarly, clean raw materials by sieving and use high quality materials and always use right sieve for right animal type when producing feed particals like 0.5-0.7 mm for pigs, 0.7-0.9mm for broilers and 0.9-1.5 for layers. Weigh raw materials for mixing and calibrate the weighing scale regularly without over or under dosing the required raw materials.
Because end quality of mixing is influenced by type, particle size and moisture content, avoid mixing products with high moisture levels problems with dry ingredients. Add toxin binders in feeds to prevent aflatoxin and mould and measure amount of finished products and add label on the bags the animal type for feeding and feed phase.
Label production date and store for 2 weeks maximum depending on quality and moisture content of raw materials and finally make sure you know performance of feed.
