To make fermented bio-fertilizer from cow dung, you need a bucket for mixing ingredients, an air-tight container with a lid, connector, nipple, pipping, a plastic water bottle, and a mosquito net. The ingredients needed are 15 to 20 kg of fresh cow manure, 750 ml of molasses or sugar dissolved in water, 750 ml of milk, 50g yeast, 2 kg of minerals, rock dust, and/ or bone meal, and 40 liters of non-chlorinated water.
Making liquid fertilizer
Add cattle manure into the mixing container, add water, and mix thoroughly using your hands.
Filter the manure into the fermentation container using a mosquito net. Add the milk and then molasses into the filtered cow dung in the fermentation container.
Add the minerals, yeast, and then mix all the materials together thoroughly.
Make a hole in the top of the lid and push a nipple into it to make a valve. Ensure that the nipple is fixed tightly so that it doesn’t allow passage of air.
Cover the container with the lid and attach one pat of the pipe to the valve and the other apart to the plastic bottle filled with water.
This allows air to get out of the cotainer but will not allow air to get in. Leave the mixture to ferment for 30 days and after this, it will be ready for use.
Put the bio-fertilizer in a knapsack sprayer and spray on the underside of leaves.
