Being highly nutritious crops rich in nutrients, carrots and parsnips production is determined by the level of technology used. A farmer should prepare soilsmaking it friable using forked hoe and also apply potassium and potash in it to alkalise it or use lime for the same purpose. Add volcanic rock dust to the garden amd mix with soils and make beds flat and divide the garden for planting.

Crop management

Because parsnisps take long to matur compared to to carrots, a farmer sows parsnips and carrots by broad casting over the soils or by planting in straight lines and this make thining easy. Plant crops of the edge of the garden and net them to keep dogs and birds out.
Similarly, sow onions between carrot rows, cover seeds with a small layer of soil and put parsnips in the fridge for at least 2 weeks before sowing to break dormany and increase germination. Plant parsnios quite deeper than carrots and also beetroot in the same garden and finally cover bed with micro climate to control animals and birds from garden.
