Being a highly nutritious crop rich in vitamins, lettuces production, quality and quantity is determined by the level of technology used. As lettuces are short time crops, they are planted in shade area away from sun and are stressed when there is no enough moisture. Transplant lettuces when theu are 4-5 weeks old and one should prepare soils, add organic compost and additives before planting.

Crop management

As a farmer add nitrogen to soil for foliar growth and phosphorous for root growth, he should also add bone powder, wood pellets and volcanic rock dust. Because lettuces have very shallow rooting syatem, mix fertilizer with soils evenly and plant lettuces at 30cm apart and plant crops away from the garden edges to prevent birds.
Because pests that affect lettuces include birds, slugs and snalis, put folded newspapers in the pot and put it upside down leaving an entry for snails and slugs. Also apply insecticide to prevent snails and slugs and finally cover bed with a net.
