Pests and diseases are major hindrances in agriculture but these can be prevented and controlled organically using neem leaves.

To make an organic pesticide from neem leaves, first, you
need to collect neem leaves. These can be got either from the neem tree if you
have one or from the vegetable market if you have no neem tree. Remove the
leaves from the branches and twigs and also cut the branches into small pieces
using a plier into a cooking pan.

Other steps

The neem tree grows all over the world hence you can plant
one. In humans, the neem tree is also used to cure skin diseases. It has an active ingredient that enables it to be a
pesticide as well as an insecticide and also as a fungicide.

Pound raw turmeric into a paste and add to the neem leaves because turmeric is as well a pesticide and fungicide.

Add. Pour water into the neem leaves and boil at an average
temperature for between 15 to 20 minutes. Add 1 liter of water per 100g of neem
leaves.

After boiling, cover the mixture in a shade and keep it for
24 hours. This will make the color of the solution to change.

Sieve the mixture and use the residue part of the neem leaves to
make compost. Mix water with the filtrate/ liquid in a ratio of 1:1 and put a small piece of
camphor and let it dissolve for about 10 minutes.  Camphor isn’t a pesticide but has a smell that helps repel pests.

Now the liquid is ready to use as an organic pesticide. This liquid is sprayed on plants and is able to control pests such as aphids, spider
mites, white flies, and mealy bugs but the useful insects can not be damaged. Use the pesticide either in the morning or evening after
sunset.
