»How To Grow Carrots In Containers- A Definitive Guide«

Being a crop of nutritious value rich in vitamins and other minerals, carrot is not only grown in open field but also in containers.
As carrots require proper spacing, depth and soil type, space them at 5cm apart using a container of 30cm high with best soils which are loose, sandy- loam, well drained with a neutral pH, rich in nutrients and free from soil clods.

Carrot growing

As carrots require much sunlight of 6-8 hours a day for tap root development, they also need balanced soil nutrients and water. Container used is of 30 cm high with organic poly mix and fresh carrot seeds which are germinated at 18-29 degrees centigrade.
Similarly, use straw mulch to mulch carrots during germination which is done after planting seeds near surface and covered with a skim coat of soil. In case of poor germination results, sow again lots of seeds and thin later leaving 2 inches apart when they are 5cm high.
After doubling the height, thin again leaving 5cm apart for carrots to grow up to 67 inches high which is harvest starting with the biggest at 10 weeks. Add fertilizer to the plants and first harvest is done in 6 weeks and finally always harvest when still young.
