One of the important aspects of chicken rearing that has to be taken seriously is feeding.
Nutrition of the flock determines the overall health and performance of the flock. When raising a flock, mind the source of your feed ie it is important that you get your feed from a reputable supplier. You could choose to use already packaged feed or you can formulate your own feed but when formulating your own feed ensure that you get your feed formula from some one with knowledge about feed formulation.
Proper chicken management
After buying feed from a reputable supplier, ensure that you keep your feed properly in a dry environment so that water does not sip into the feed. When water sips into the feed, it gets mouldy and causes problems like aspergillosis in birds which can cause moralities.
During feeding, do not over or under feed the birds. It is best that you give the birds the right quantities of feed at the right time.
Ensure that clean water is always available to your flock and incase you are using deep litter system, always wash the drinkers and change the water regularly.
You can give supplements to your chicken. The supplements can be mineral supplements or vitamins but ensure that you give them the right quantities when needed.
