pests are present in every garden but that doesn’t mean they cant be prevented/ controlled. The first way to avoid pests is preventing pests from accessing the plants. This is done by covering the plants using a net. It is important that the net is secured in the ground so that the pests can’t either way pass under the net. The net should be permeable to both rain ad sunlight.
Organic pest control
Covering of crops doesn’t apply to all crops all the time since some crops need to be left open to allow pollinators to do the pollination of the flowers.
Removing of pests manually can be an alternative form of controlling insect pests. The removed pests are killed by squashing them between fingers.
Using a horse pipe to flash off pests like aphids using the pressure of the water.
Pest can also be controlled by removing infested plant parts.
Beneficial insects like lady birds control pests like thrips. Attract the beneficial insects by planting flowers which attract them. Thyme, mint, parsley and oregano are good at repelling away insect pests.
Use of organic sprays can be a last resort solution for controlling pests. Organic sprays include Bt, pyrethrum extracts and dish soap can be used to make organic pesticides.
