Being a nutritious and medicinal crop, garlic can be grown and produced using different technologies which are growing in pot, containers and fields. Because individual cloves are used when planting garlic, plant at 1-3 inches deep and 4-6 inches apart 4 weeks before the frost and plant in moist, organic rich pH neutral soils. Hardneck varieties are grow in colder climates and soft neck in warmer climates.

Crop management

Because the success of garlic depend on space, moisture, nutrients, temperature and sunlight, farmers should maintain space of 6 inches between bulbs. Organic polymix soils are used in containers and it is either bought or made locally from 45% compost, 45% coco fibre and 10% washed sand. Fill the soil mix in container, compress it firmly and put the cloves into it with pointy side up at 3 inches deep and 6 inhes apart, mulch the garden and water after.
Similarly for growing in fabric grow bags, fill the bag with polymix, plant cloves in it, cover with more poly mix, mulch and water after and equally for plastic pots, farmers should fill them with polymix soils, plant cloves, mulch and water. In colder climate, plat cloves deeper, upward of 7.5cm from top of cloves and apply thick mulch.
Furthermore, stack all pots together to simulate a single garden for more thermal mass and always put gharlic garden outside to stimulate bulb formation and dont watr in winter. Keep soils moist i water climates and after sprouting appy a balanced organic fertilizers, then after 2 months later and lastly after 6 weeks before harvest time.
8-10 months after planting, galic is harvested by digging out bulbs when shoots turn yellow and start failing. Tie them in bundles and hung them in a shade for drying for 3-4 weeks.
Finally after 4 weeks, remove roots, shoots and 1-2 paper layer/ dry leaves.
