When dates bear fruits, they start off as green fruits and these are often bagged to keep them out of rich of pests and also prevents the dates from falling onto the ground when ripe.
Harvesting dates
Depending on the variety, some dates don’t ripen while still attached on the plant and these are harvested when they just turn yellow while other dates ripen while still attached on the tree and these are harvested when they are fully ripe.
Processing of dates
After harvesting, the dates are laid on a tarpaulin, the dates are cleaned by dusting off using a brush and not with water.
Dates with any sign of damage is removed during sorting.
Depending on the customer specifications, the dates can be packed as is.
Before the packaging materials are sealed, they are weighed to ensure that their weight meets the customer specifications.
