Broiler management
As most efficient growth is when the bird has a little maintainence and fat deposition from 0-14 days, least efficient growth is when the bird has high maintainence and higher deposition of fats from 28-42 days. Pre starter should support intestine development and liver hence a need to use pre starter from 0-7 days un restricted on paper or feeding plates.
Similarly, feed chicks on starter from day 08-14 for optimal growth and feather development however, from day 28 up to slaughter birds use more energy for maintainance and fat deposition which cause lower efficience in finisher phase. Use starter feed in starter phase, grower feed in growing phase and finisher feed in finiher phase making sure that the number of feeder is sufficient for uniform growth as chicken should not be further away than 2 m from feeder.
Equally, calculate the number of feeders needed for the number of birds based capacity of feeder. Feed intake increases daily hence balance the feeders and drinkers to prevent unnecessary movement of birds and prevent feed waste by adjusting heights of the feeders.
Furthermore, never overfill the feeders to prevent rodents and make sure feed is availabe for 20 hours daily. For artificial lights, turn it off for 4 hours of 24 hours and turn on again.
Finally, feed and water should be available.
