Biogas is a gas produced by the biological breakdown of organic matter through fermentation. The gas is made up of methane and carbon dioxide.
Biogas can be produced from a variety of materials such as agricultural waste, plant material, manure, sewage, human waste, garden and kitchen waste. The major designs of biogas plants are fixed dome, flexible bug and floating dome. When the biogas tube is full of gas it becomes tubular. Methane gas burns hotter than butane with a beautiful blue hue.
Biogas production
Put feed waste in a digester through the inlet pipe then leave it for 5-7 days for it to rot and begin the fermentation process. Feed the digester on a regular basis.
Gas and fertilizers are the by- products of biogas. The gas is used for multiple purposes.
Benefits of biogas
Biogas is a renewable energy that can be used for heating and electricity. It saves time when it comes to cooking and it is clean and healthy.
It reduces cost. One can use the gas for distilling water to get fresh drinking water. Fertilizers can be sold for extra source of income or applied during food production. The heat can be used for chicken brooding, milking machines, drying vegetables and pasteurised milk.
