Signs and symptoms
Mites cause a number of signs and symptoms in birds. Normally affected chickens usually show signs and symptoms like stress, dullness at all times, pale comb and wattle, low production from both layers and broilers, weight loss, and lastly feather pecking.
Mites treatment
To effectively treat mites in chicken, spray affected chicken with clove oil using a hand sprayer or apply clove oil directly with fingers on the affected chicken parts. Clove oil is a preferred treatment for mites since it is cheap, readily available, and kills chicken mites effectively hence improving production. Alternatively, spray 10% garlic extract diluted with water once every 7 days for 3 weeks on the affected chicken parts.
