Sticky traps usually are of bright colors like yellow and these can be set in the field whether or not there is an insect pest problem. The yellow bright color of the sticky traps attracts insects to the trap where they are caught up and eventually they die.
Installing sticky traps
Sticky traps are coated with glue which catches the insect pests but before being used, the glue is covered by a sheet of PVC. When installing the trap, remove the PVC to expose the glue before installing the trap.
After exposing the glue, you can stick the sticky trap onto a piece of stick and plug the stick into the soil.
The trap is placed near the leaves of the plant and is effective on insects like while flies.
The sticky traps can as well be used as monitoring tools to tell a farmer the nature and intensity of insect pests in his garden.
The sticky traps can also just be tied to hang just above the leaves on vegetable plants.
