» Rabbit Farming comparison with COW FARMING«

Rabbit rearing can earn you more income compared to cow farming in a year because breeding period of a rabbit is too short as compared to that of a cow.
In one year, a rabbit can become pregnant up to six times. If you compare rabbit weight plus its bunnies in one year with that of a cow, the rabbit and its bunnies will have more weight. If you compare farming of rabbits and cow, you are going to see that rabbits are way easier to keep because they need little space. Rabbits also have low feeding rate, they have low pests and diseases attack, they gain weight at a faster rate, they have shorter breeding period and their maintenance is low as compared to that of a cow.

Breeding of rabbits

Breeding period of a rabbit is too short compared to that of a cow. A rabbit can produce up to six litres per year and one litre can give you up to 14 bunnies.
Rabbits can mate throughout the year and one buck can mate with up to 12 does. Rabbit matures for mating when it is between 5-6 months old with its gestation period being between 28-32 days. Productive period of a a mature rabbit is 2-3 years.

Meat production

Difference between a cow and rabbit is more evident in meat production. Rabbit earns you more in a year due to its weight gain. The best meat producers are New Zealand and California.
New Zealand and California have quality meat because of their genes for accumulating muscles and can reach a weight of 2.5 Kgs in 120 days. Rabbit meat has high proteins content, and lowest fat and cholesterol and it is so nutritious especially for people dealing with obesity.

Maintenance of rabbits

If you are keeping rabbits for commercial purpose you must feed them with high quality feeds and ensure water is available at all times so as to attain 2.5 kgs in 120 days and get maximum profits.
Rabbit cage should be suspended by poles, base and sides of the structure should be made of mesh for proper ventilation and avoid infestation of pest and diseases because of wet and moist environment due to urine which will reduce your production and profits
