The continuous decline in soil fertility has made crop production and fertilizer use almost inseparable. Fertilizers can be organic or inorganic and the organic forms can be made locally at home.

Cow dung cake if used in the right way may produce a good fertilizer for your plants. The fertilizer cake can be used on all kinds of plants including potted plants.

Making liquid fertilizer

Cow dung cake contains 3% of Nitrogen, 2% phosphorous, and 1% potassium.
To make fertilizer out of the cow dung cake, put 8 liters of water into a bucket and put about 500g of cow dung cake. The cow dung cake ought not to be fresh and must have spent some time. The cow dung is left to stand in the water for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, the wet cow dung cake is removed from the bucket, and the liquid is sieved into another container.
After, dilute the liquid before using it on the plants because if used fresh, it can heat up the plants.
Add 1.5 liters of water into the liquid fertilizer and now it’s ready for use.
To use the fertilizer, just pour it around the root zone of your plants and this will be the best way of using cow dung cake as a fertilizer for your plants.
