Being a highly nutritious crop, celery growing and production can be reached by use of good technology for quality and quantity of the crop. As celery requires moisture and slightly alkaline soils of pH 6.0-7.0, it is highly affected by high temperatures and in case of calcium and magnessium deficiencies, a farmer should apply lime/ calcium carbonate to fix the problems of nutrient deficiencies.

Crop management

First, plant celery at least 30cm apart for sufficient air movement to prevent fungal diseases and feed the crop every 2-3 weeks of growing season for optimum growth.
Similary, because watercress is easily grown from seed or cutting, it is planted to suppress th weeds in the garden. However, keep pruning back the watercress as it grows like weed and also fed plants well with decomposed chicken manure for nitrogen boost.
Furthermore, add ash and rotten compost to increase magnesium, calcium and carbon in the soils. Water the crops after planting and finally 2-3 weeks depending on weather, water again.
