»Cashew Nursery Establishment and Grafting«
As a mode of promoting professional agriculture farming, raising of seedlings in a nursery is an important stage for high yielding.
For nursery bed establishment, land is first secured and a fence is established to prevent nursery bed destruction and a shade is put to prevent extreme sunlight on seedlings. The grafting of trees fastens the fruiting.
Nursery establishment
First, put dry cashew seeds in water for 2 days to soften the mericap of shell for early germination and use large poly bags that can accommodate large taproot. Where seed connects with tree, put it in an upward orientation during planting and plant seed 0.5 inch below soil surface of poly bag.
Similarly, after planting, germination is done in a period of a week and after 6 weeks, seedling is ready for grafting which is done as a cut is made lengthwise down stem of root stalk. Select scions which are healthy with good buds and internodes and protect them from desiccation.
Selected scions must match the diameter of the root stalk and make a clean cut cut at the end of scion and make a wedge shape to fit into root stalk. Fit the scion into root stalk and wrap the grafted area to prevent any air and water into the it.
Furthermore, cover the top with transparent polythene to prevent moisture loss from the scion and finally grafting is successful in 15 days as terminal bud begin to grow.
