»Stronger plants with raised beds«
Raising of beds in the water logged field preserves the seedlings and crops from being affected by the running water and prevent root rotting of them.
With 2 growing season, farmers irrigate land over 10 times a year and water logging happens when excess water can no longer be captured by drainage system. Farmers level land with tractor to prevent logging and this is by creating slight slopes across land to drainage canal.
Beds establishment
First raised beds must be 20-30 cm high, 80-100 cm wide and furrow 30-40 cm wide and 50-100 cm long as wide beds allows water to channel faster in through land. Specially designed equipment prepares mechanized raised beds of right size.
Similarly, for beans, place 1 seed for every 20 cm in 3 rows while for wheat, place seeds in rows leaving 15 cm between them. After sowing, flood the field and ensure water covers top bed.
Finally, water should reach roots through sides of beds given that soils absorb water and beds can be used for 2-3 planting seasons.
