To propagate banana plant at home that has with similar features as the parental plant, you first need to choose the best variety of plant.

The next step you need to do is turn the banana plant and dig the corn carefully. Remove the soil around the corn as much as possible then wash it with water. All the roots are removed using a knife. The bud part is taken out to propagate the plant and there is no need to take out the cambium part of the corn. The bud will then grow up into the plant.

Media and buds preparation

Take 70% of burnt rice husks and 30% normal soil or compost and mix it up nicely. Spread the mixture in a growing tray.

As for buds, you need to first sterilize them by washing them with a detergent. Mix the detergent with water and wash all the buds in the solution. Keep the buds in the growing tray then cover them with growing media and water it daily.

Growth period

Within one month all buds will grow up and after that they can be grown outside. This method is far much better than tissue culture and can be carried out at home.
