A quarantine is a must have place on a farm. It can help separate animals to be vaccinated, animals to receive treatment and separating new flock from the entire flock. Handling new stock
Incase you are bringing in your first batch of animals, you may not quarantine them because they are all new and their pen is a quarantine itself but if you bring in another batch, then you have to quarantine them.
When animals are shifted from one place to another, their body immunity lowers and incase the animal has any infection, the infection easily shows up due to the lowered immunity of the animal. In quarantine, you confine your animals together and observe them for at least 1 week. Incase the animal shows any signs of sickness, treat it and also give it multi vitamins to boost on its immunity.
Reason for quarantine
Quarantine can be used to handle new stock, easily monitor those suspected to be sick and those not performing well and letting animals get used to each other before putting them in their designated place.
