To begin with, the quality of the products obtained from goats is directly determined by the management skills during production.

When breeding, select big does for cross breeding. Considering the gestation period of a goat being 144 and 145 days, clean the kids nose and mouth immediately after birth to facilitate their breeding and throw away the placenta.

Kids care

Furthermore, make kids suck colostrum in 0.5 hours for 2 days and feed them on 10% of their body weight for the whole day. Feed the delivered doe with fibrous feed and stop feeding them on oil cakes before kidding.

Milking goat

Take out excess milk from doe by hands and leave only necessary amounts for kid feeding as it produces excess milk for 10 days.

Not only the above but also keep kids with their mother for 10 days and separate them later on for feeding twice a day. This is to encourage kids to start feeding on forage. Later on, wean the kids at 1.5 months and continue milking up to next kidding to prevent mastitis. Mortality of kids goes up with poor feeding management hence use electric bulbs to raise temperatures inside the kids house.
